…and to also see if he could change his name to Edward. He said yes to the vampire thing but a definite no on the Edward thing. He’s so good at compromise! I fell into the trap of Twilight–I don’t know why I let myself do this. I resisted Harry Potter but there was just something about a vampire love story that appealed to me so much. I gave in when Aunt Lauren asked me to read it so I could go to the movie with her. And when Aunt Lauren asks you to do something–you do it. That’s pretty much all I did this weekend. I won’t give any spoilers away but I do highly recommend it. Although it is really, REALLY weird how Bella turns into a goat at the end.
My father-in-law was here for part of the weekend. He was here to relax which involved him redoing our siding, putting in a new shower head and he had already had the sheets washed and put back on his bed before he left on Saturday. Doesn’t that sound relaxing? If any of you want to come to our house to “relax” we have a few other chores that need to be done. We had a lot of fun and we were SO glad he came! Like I’ve always said–my in-laws are the BEST!
Friday night we went to POPS on Route 66. It’s just a few minutes from our house and it’s fun! You have over 500 pops to choose from. (Just know that being from Oklahoma it’s really hard for me to type “pop” and not “coke.”)
There’s the giant pop bottle that greets you. I’m not sure if it’s the largest in the nation–but it’s got to be close!
This picture I’m pretty sure should be getting me a call from POPS to see if they can use it. I know, it’s beautiful. (ha!) This is the gas station/restaurant/soda holder.
The wall of pop…it’s usually sort of a fight in this area. I’m usually tempted to elbow small children when they get in my way here. I have no patience, that my friends, is why I have no children.
So, let me run down how my “change of lifestyle” went this weekend…
Thursday-Papa Johns pizza
Friday-Chili’s for dinner (On the way there I claimed I was just getting chicken enchilada soup–yeah that didn’t happen)
Saturday-leftover pizza and Chinese–and I don’t even LIKE Chinese food!
Sunday-Taco Bell
Interspersed through the weekend was about 6 bottles of pop, half a BIG bag of M&M’s and Funyuns. Needless to say I’m drinking SlimFast as I type this.
But do you know who didn’t judge me? Yeah, you know…
Coming up tomorrow…my trip to the pumpkin patch.
I love twilight!! I read it because thats what a mom dose!! She makes sure her children are reading good stuff! So thats my excuse any ways..
That pic is amazeing ..
Crap! You’re reading Twilight too?? I need to get into that. Everyone is talking about it and I feel like the fat kid in junior high who wasn’t up on anything cool…
I’m supposed to start working out today. We’ll see how that goes. I’m pretty attached to my fat. Last night I was having a conversation with it and it said, “Emily, I love you. I keep you warm, and if you’re ever stranding for a long period of time without food. I will nurture you and provide for you. Why do you want me to leave?”
That’s a pretty compelling argument if I must say so.
I am on the last book…just started reading them a couple of weeks ago. They are good. (The 3rd is the best IMO) but you NEED to Read Harry Potter! So much better than Twilight!!
I’ve asked for the first Twilight book for the holidays 🙂
I’m excited to dig into it because everyone raves about the series. I think I could’ve totally hung in there with you the first couple of days but then after that even I would’nt of been able to get down any more fast food, lol! It’s funny how when you’re super busy it sneaks in…it’s just soooo darn convenient…I think they plan it that way….haha!
I read Twilight at the beach this summer. SOOO GOOD. And then, of course, I had to keep reading. I was even a huge nerd and went to the midnight party for Breaking Dawn (sooo disappointing, book wise) and won some trivia prizes.
And somehow I don’t think I’ll be visiting Pops next time I’m in OK. I only go as far as Lawton and then stop. Sounds fun though!
Haha, OK, I seriously HAVE to read Twilight… it’s EVERYWHERE!! I saw the book at the bookstore today and just couldn’t bring myself to buy it… but my friend has them. So I guess what I’m saying is, I will borrow these books and see just what this is all about! LOL
GORGEOUS pics too. They are stunning… all are great! I want to go visit POPS now! Dang’it. It’s so far away.
Those “change of lifestyle” things are so hard!! I’m still working on mine… and stopped by Taco Bell more than once this weekend 🙂
~Tab~
I have contimplating reading the Twilight series. But I think you have finally pushed me over the edge. I am going to try this series out. Thanks for sharing.
I haven’t gotten into those books yet, but from what I’ve heard, I need to. Great pics! Yes, don’t you love dogs? They never judge you, they don’t care if you’re fat, or wear your pj’s all day or anything. 🙂
I can’t wait to read about the pumpkin patch trip!!!!
Blessings,
Lacy
I looooooooooooooooooooooove the Twilight series!! I totally want a Vampire Lover but the hubby says he’s black and that’s about as much excitement as we can handle. Sigh!
The movie comes out in a couple of weeks and I am going to rock my inner tween……and take one of the girls out of school so she can be my cover! 🙂 heehee
dawn
That sounds like my “diet!”
well you must know that i am a twilight junkie! oh and i so wanna take the bans to POPS can you believe we have NEVER been there
I always wonder why, when my mom comes to visit me, she does all the cooking, all the laundry and cleans my house from top to bottom, but when I visit her, she still does all the cooking and our laundry. I hope this doesn’t mean I’ll have to do that for my kids one day.
pops sounds like an interesting place…i’m intrigued
I still haven’t read those twilight books…and everyone who does says they are great…I just may have to break down eventually. And your week of food love sounds like a typical DAY for me! So you my dear are doing GREAT! …and don’t you just how dogs love you cheat on your diet and things get a bit gooshie!
hahaha! your “lifestyle change” sounds like mine! and 3 props for your hubby going as a vampire!
I’ve read the Harry Potter books, so my brain is pretty much tired of words. Unless of course they’re on the computer…..or on a sticker. I like stickers. Don’t judge me!
dear lord- i INHALED those twilight books! they’re so good- it’s very hard to resist. can’t blame you for asking your hubby to convert-hahhah! that pop’s place looks OUTRAGEOUS!!! okay. i’m on a “change of lifestyle” too, just so you don’t feel alone 🙂 don’t fret- just move on! xo
I have not even heard of the Twilight books, but I’m feeling tempted to find them now. What I really want to know though is this…how did you resist Harry Potter?? You need to find them and read them ~ they are so much fun!
I have never heard of “POPS” either, but our “coke” in Ohio is always called “pop” so it sounds like a place I would love to visit. Your pictures of it were really neat ~ cool angles and great colors. 🙂
Angie in OH
hahaha you have been bitten by the Twilight vampire!!! i am about 1/2 way through the 2nd book
i did not realize people from OK say “coke” instead of “pop.” i thought that was a deep south thing!
I’m almost done with the third book of the Twilight Series. I never thought I would read them until a co-worker shoved them in my face. ha!
I’m from Oklahoma and I can’t believe I’ve never been to POPS! holy crap.
hey, it’s ok about the Slim Fast. I ate candy for dinner on Saturday and Sunday. damn Halloween candy.
Yeah, I have begged my hubby to be more like Edward and tried to get him to read the books so he could get some tips. Poor men. I wonder how many wives have tried the same thing. Come on guys, just a little Edward is all we need. Is that too much to ask??? I think not.
As for the smorgeshboard of delicious food, don’t feel bad. And I love how you predecided to not get much at chilis and once you got there couldn’t resist. That is SO me. And I love it. ha ha.
“Pop” is a foreign word to me. Everything is a “coke”, whether diet, brown, or clear.
I am about to start the twilight series…a friend of mine has been raving about it! That is why dogs (and kittens) are the BEST – they dont care what you just ate!
I’ve read all the Harry Potters, but haven’t gotten around to getting any of the Twilight books yet. I keep hoping my sister or mom will get them, so I can just borrow them.
Even though I’m from Arkansas, I’ve never said ‘coke,’ always ‘soda.’
Foodwise, I’m always always bad on the weekend. Then I always always promise to do good for the week.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today from SITS! I loved reading through your blog. I too, just jumped on the Twilight train and have liked it so far. Just like your Aunt telling you to read it–I have my friend who teaches 7th grade English tell me to read it. Same thing, when she says to read a book, you do it!
I’ve been hearing about these twilight books for several days now from different bloggers writing about it. Hmm, still on the fence if I want to take the plunge or not! And thanks so much for passing by my blog today!!
Twilight? Really? NOOOOO! Don’t read that drivel..
(psst. call me. Let’s chat all things Edward. He’s dreamy. I’m on the fourth book. shhhhh)
P.S.; You MUST, I repeat, MUST email me and tell me the story behind that picture on your home page. I belly laugh whenever I click over here. I mean, what are you doing? You look sassy!
you’ve jumped on the twilight bus. i haven’t yet. wow, that a lot of pop. i’ve always said pop even though i’ve drank coke all my life.
I’m with you on the Twilight series . . . vampire love stories are very addicting! I never was into the Harry Potter books myself. I talked my mom and sister into reading the book so we could all go to the movies when it comes out.
Oh, darn! You gave away the ending of Twilight! Poooh! No, I am just beginning to read this book and probably will fall into the entire series, too. Vampires and a love story, are you kidding? It’s Dark Shadows all over again!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and yes….Saturday’s game will be intense!
YUMMY food! I LOVE eating out!
Twilight…been there done that. Loved it when Bella turned into a goat. Best ending ever.
Pop eh?
Pops looks cool. I’m not a big soda drinker, but I’d still like to go there and give it a try.
Over 500 Pops to choose from??????? Holy Crap. And I would be sitting there calling them all soda while the locals look at me like I’m stupid. And then I would just look at them and say “Stupid is as Stupid does”.
And I’m beginning to think I need to read these Twillight books, everyone has read them and they are all looking forward to the movie. I’ve seen the trailers for the movie and definitely want to go see it but now I feel like I must read the book first. 🙂
I was skeptical about the whole Twilight “deal” but then I started the first book and I couldn’t put it down….then I got the second one and couldn’t put that one down you see where it’s going….It’s soooooo very addicting!
I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter books or Twilight – but I have to ask – Is Edward Cullen in Twilight? I keep seeing that name in the “Pieces of Flair” application on Facebook and never knew who that person was lol
Grew up in Michigan so I called any kind of soft drink Pop. Moved to New Mexico and no one had a clue what I was talking about. Finally after about 4 years of living there, I finally started calling it soda. Now I live in Florida and even though a lot of soda is called coke or co-cola I’ve been able to stick with the word soda.
Awww, you gotta love the ones that never judge!
I could never get into the HP books but Twilight…Twilight?! I can’t get enough!
HAAA! I’m so excited Lauren got you on Twilight too. I just got the 3rd one yesterday so I’ll be passing it along to her shortly, since I can’t put the thing down. If I could just get my family to leave me alone… 😉
Yeah, I was completely caught off guard by the surprise goat ending too! 😉 You’re too funny!!
Wow, I’m impressed hubby is willing to go Vampire for you! I can see why he said no to the name……it’s kind of a boring name for a vampire.
I love the personality you capture in your dogs’ photos.
HEY! I didn’t realize you lived around OKC!! My brother and his family live in Edmond and we were just there a few weeks ago! Cooooool!!
We almost went to Pop’s, but decided to mostly stay at home and hang because we were only there for a few days.
