I feel like such a neglectful mother. How many days have I been out of it? The holidays are killer. I thought I’d have plenty of time to blog and visit people’s blogs but alas–I had to hang out with actual people and be merry and bright. And I ate. And ate. And ate. But I am 100% HEALTHY–that is the important thing.
We left Wednesday night for Kansas City, Missouri for the weekend. Traffic wasn’t awful at that point in the night and conversation was that of Rhode Scholars–“Do you think ghosts are happy when people leave the house so they don’t have to hide?” And I think there was dinosaur talk and there’s always talk of the agriculture that we pass. I love cows. I really do.
We had to leave the children behind with their horny cousin Floyd. Hehehe…I hope I don’t get “horny cousin” searches on google. I’m referring to dogs here people.
Poor Floyd was confused so Sadie got humped in the head a lot. I’m sure some women can relate…
Floyd didn’t mess with Lexi–either he’s prejudice against plus-size ladies (typical) or it was the fact that Lexi would nip at him everytime he’d come within 10 feet of her.
While I missed my pups, I DID get to hang out with two pretty cool dogs–Maggie and Riley.
Maggie could be Lexi’s mother:
What I’m saying is she’s a potato with toothpicks for legs just like Lex. But I love her to death–she’s probably the sweetest dog in the world.
And then there’s Riley–Riley is just special…
This is the one still picture I got of her. Oh and I didn’t even take it–the sister-in-law did.
Did I mention in Kansas City I went ice skating? Because I did…and I. Was. Awesome. I had to fight the urge to trip and push people down on the ice. Some lady broke her leg while we were there. I felt bad because she was being stared at everytime people would pass and it took FOREVER for them to get her off the ice because well, she was on ice.
Do you see that form? I’m surprised roses and teddy bears weren’t being thrown at me as I was passing. Although there was nothing more satisfying than seeing the people who thought they were awesome totally bite it on the ice. I loved that so much.
I think this is one of my favorite pictures EVER of us.
Ok, that’s it for today…I’ve got to get back in the swing of things! Tomorrow more pictures AND my hatred for my female in-laws because they’re all so dang beautiful!
I hate cows. I have a serious phobia. Can’t go near them.
Sounds like you had fun.
I am glad you ha a good holiday..
I love all the pix they are way too cute..
Sounds like a good time. Mine and my mom’s dogs stayed at a pet hotel. They are just so spoiled! They were happy to go home though when we picked them up. Now, I’m back at work (ugh) and they get to sleep all day.
Poor Sadie! Your comment about women relating made me LOL!
I love the picture of the two of you — it could be a Hallmark card or the cover of a magazine or something. Wow!
Welcome back. Seems like we both went missing. I’m back from holiday travels and just posted another installment of my short story.
Blessings!
Lacy
Poor Sadie…….nothing worse that getting humped in the head!
That is a fun picture!
Boomer Sooner! I really enjoyed watching the game this past week…and look forward to next week’s! Now if people will quit whining…
Please, we need a report of the Google searches that will be popping up!!
Surely you must have left the ice before the roses and bears started flying. You must have missed ’em.
I drove to IL from the Dallas area with a 5 and 6 year old … our conversations were out of this world too.
Difference between chicken nuggets and chicken shaped nuggets, why you shouldn’t eat at McDonald’s more than once a road trip, why some people live in shacks in the middle of no where …
It was glorious.
*wink*wink*
Poor Sadie.
Nice ice skating pics! I’m one of those people who falls down every 30 seconds, so I don’t enjoy ice skating that much. Last time I went this 7 year old kept zooming by me. It was pretty sad on my part. 🙂
I know that ice rink!!! Isn’t it pretty there at Crown Center? I could’ve come met you and skated too LOL I’m about 30 miles from there 🙂
I went completely missing in blogland as well…I’m still trying to “ketchup.” The picture of the two of you is adorable!
will we be seeing you in the next winter olympics? i’ll keep my eye out. sounds like you had a nice trip. why do we always eat way too much over the holidays. we just can’t help ourselves. i bet your dogs were happy to see you when you got home.
I love that you rocked the rink! I used to be so good, when I was like 10. But now the skates just hurt my ankles. Although last time I went a friend of mine tried to teach me how to jump because she used to take lessons. I was pretty good and didn’t fall at all. Finally, at the end of the night, when we were ready to go, I decided I do one jump and go balls-out since it was my last one. Right before my foot was supposed to leave the ice, I freaked, my legs flailed, I got all discombobulated mid-flight and ended up on my back on the ice. It hurt bad. I had a bruise for weeks.
Cute pic of you two! I’ve never been ice skating, so that lady with the broken leg would be me.
So fun! I have not been ice skating in ages! It used to get cold enough that they did an outdoor skating rink here but it has not happened for a few years. Dang global warming. Really I have no idea….Anywho, that last pic is pretty great.
I am so excited for you and your awesome skating experiences…. I was born and raised in the great KC , are you from there? would that be totally weird if we knew some of the same people???? email me and we’ll ralk!!!!
That pic of the two of you is too awesome! You guys got it goin’ on!!
I always thought head humping was normal, no???
Kristi Yamaguchi called and wants her legs back. You are too cute and that pix of you and your man—frame it!!! You cracked me up with the roses and teddy bears.
The last time I was ice skating, one of my sisters fell through the ice. Maybe I wouldn’t be afraid if I was on a controlled rink. Hmm.
Boo ya! Cows rock!
Looks like someone had a good time.
Hot picture of the two of you….like you have to worry about beautiful inlaws you big dope. The head humping thing is gonna have me laughing for days.
Happy to see you and the pups back. I missed reading your blog over the weekend. I on the other hand blogged a few times but my house is a mess. Priorities, priorities…
Ice skating sounds like fun, and it looks like you had a fantastic time. Love the pictures of your dogs, they are so cute. My son keeps looking at teh screen saying “gog”. Happy belated Thanksgiving.
That is the greatest photo of you two! So you released our inner ice princess? AWESOME!
LOL! I can’t get over the poor dog getting humped in the head! Men!!!
And I agree – that pic of you two is fab!
Oh man, you make me laugh! How many hits did you get with the dog humping thing? HeeHeeHee
Thanks for leaving the kind words.
You have also been tagged so stop by.

Do your Critters like Broccoli? I always fix it for holiday dinners, ’cause mine eat the leftovers, with no bad effects, I might add. Hey, I’m Sharing Some Linky Love with you over at my place…please come Check. It. Out!
Sounds like a wonderful time! Of course, you are a better person than I. I have this disease…I laugh hysterically when people get hurt. Not some serious, blood gushing gross injury, but I would have peed myself seeing someone crash on the ice. I don’t do ice – weak ankles ya know. Love the dogs, too bad they had to spend time with the pervert. Hopefully you don’t receive too many perverted visits yourself.
You and the dude are amazingly cute (yup, I used to be cute too – LOL)
such a cute photo of you and the hubby! I know I would have been one of those people that you wanted to knock down or trip. I would be messing up the whole ice skating experience for everyone!
glad you had an awesome thanksgiving!! the photo of you and the hubby is so cute.
I know I would have been one of those people who bit it on the ice a BILLION times.
